Frighteningly Familiar

There was only one church in town. One post office. One restaurant. One gas station. No stop light. Everyone knew everyone else. The families had all grown up together, worked together, took care of each other. In this town, no one locked their doors or their cars, and everyone knew the other's business.

While only a small handful attended the one Baptist Church in town, in a town of 300 residents, they all at least heard the church bell ringing on Sunday Morning. In 1980, it wasn't a text message that got the members of the small church moving, it was a church bell. It was in this small

community in Oklahoma, Phil and I began our ministry.

As we have been hearing more and more about the horrific act in Sutherland Springs, Texas, it reminded me so much of the small town and the small church where Phil began preaching and I began playing hymns for the church at 22 years old. In my minds eye, I see our small church, the church bell, the steps, the windows, the red carpet, the wood pews, the 50 or so people worshiping together. I can not even imagine what my life would be like today if I had survived an incident like the one in Sutherland Springs.

A message from the pastor's wife

"Now most of our church family is gone. Our building probably beyond repair, and the few of us that are left behind lost tragically yesterday. Please don't forget Sutherland Springs." Sherri Pomeroy

I can just feel her heartache in her words. Monday, I couldn't stop thinking and praying for them, like many of you, I'm sure. Monday evening, I told Phil how much I wanted to do something meaningful for them to let them know how much they are loved. I thought about a piece of jewelry. He said that he had been thinking about it all day, too. And he thought maybe I would like to send my book. Honestly, I hadn't even thought about it! But of course, I would love to send my book. Then we thought about the book and our necklace "Heaven".

We live about 5 hours from Sutherland Springs, but we have a good friend, Valerie Henderson, who lives about 30 minutes from them. So I called her, and she said she had also been thinking of a gesture of some kind. We realized that if the three of us had been thinking of this, that probably many others were also.

I've read that 1 million dollars has already been raised to help the community and I'm so happy about that. But beyond the money, I want them to have something in their hands that will remind them we have NOT and WILL NOT forget about them.

What can we do?

If you would like to join me, go to the SHOP button on this website and you will find four ways to donate. One way is to purchase our beautiful necklace at wholesale price, along with my book. We will put both of those in a beautiful organza bag and deliver it to the Sutherland Springs Community.

If you are not able to purchase the complete package, there are 3 other price points that you can donate. We will use your donation to put together as many packages as possible.

If you are a Premier Designs Representative, and you have the necklace on hand, or you would like to order the necklace for this donation, you can drop ship it to this address:

6605 Hightower Dr., Watauga, TX 76148

I don't know how many we can collect, but what ever is collected, we will make as many packets as we can. If we have more necklaces than books, those necklaces will be given to the community.

Don't wait. Do it now while you're thinking of it.

I hope you'll join us in this endeavor. If you'd like to share this with your family and friends, you can send them to this website, or send them to my melodyboxinspires FaceBook page and they can hear and see my video talking about the details

Let's Give a Dose of Hope to Sutherland Springs

Love,

Melody
